DiCaprio to appear in Tarantino’s Django Unchained?

Who loves Leonardo DiCaprio? Who loves Quentin Tarantino? Good that makes all of you then. Who would love them to finally get together and make a little film? Because that’s what MIGHT be happening in Django Unchained, Tarantino’s new spaghetti western.

It’s only a rumour, but it has come from a very interesting source. Jeff Goldsmith, former senior editor of Creative Screenwriting magazine, let the rumour out in tweet form:

“Casting Rumor [sic]: Leonardo DiCaprio WILL play villian Calvin Candie in Tarantino’s Django Unchained! QT wanted him for I.B. & now has him!”

It turns out that DiCaprio was potentially in line to play Colonel Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds before Christoph Waltz snatched it off him. But now, if this rumour is to be believed, Tarantino and DiCaprio, with a little help from the film Gods themselves, may finally be working together, DiCaprio playing the villain Calvin Candie. PRAISE THE LORD.

Waltz is rumoured to be appearing as yet another Tarantino villain, with both Idris Elba and Will Smith touted as potential choices for the titular slave-turned-gunslinger Django. How exciting are rumours, eh?
