Multi-award-winning Danish heartthrob Mads Mikkelsen has ruled out any possibility of him being the most authentically Norse thing about Marvel sequel Thor 2. As well as being generally rubbish, this makes a mockery of the hours we spent working out that he’d be playing dark elf Malekith the Accursed, lord of the shadowy realm of Svartalfheim. CHEERS, MADS.

HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean that Mikkelsen won’t be being a badass elsewhere in, y’know, the world. He turned down Thor 2 because of his commitments to NBC’s new show Hannibal, in which he’s playing the cannibal psychiatrist opposite Hugh Dancy’s Will Graham.
