Will Ferrell takes on Zach Galifianakis in 2 clips from The Campaign

It’s always a little tricky to figure out whether upcoming Will Ferrell output is going to go down the road of Anchorman or down that of Talladega Nights , and teaming up with Zach “wildcard” Galifianakis is, to be honest, no help on either score. Will their new film The Campaign show off the best or worst in the two comics? We’ve got a couple of clips that, frankly, do very little to help us decide. LET’S DO THIS.

So, The Campaign focusses on two rival politicians running for a congressional seat in North Carolina, both of whom are desperately unsuitable for the job. Prepare yourself for jokes about moustaches, women and lovely pictures of mighty hawks:

Yeah, so it’s not exactly The Thick Of It, is it? Though the premise itself is fairly promising, the jokes – for the most part – look pretty lazy. Saddam Hussein falafel lolz? Is Zach just doing ‘camp’? Using the word ‘is’ instead of ‘are’ – IS THAT ENOUGH FOR COMEDY? Is this going to be Ferrell and Galifianakis coasting their way through two hours of wishy-washy satire? Considering these videos don’t necessarily contain footage from the film itself we’re willing to retain hope – when these chaps are on form they are glorious, after all. But for now, let’s just say we’re not willing to cast a vote for either of them.
